Quarterly club meetings are held with the Board in order to provide members more opportunities to ask questions, make suggestions, raise concerns, and have increased visibility into the status and workings of the club. This is your club, so the Board wants to make sure you are aware of what is happening throughout the year. The quarterly meetings will normally be held on the 2nd Tuesday of the 2nd month each quarter at 7:00 PM in the flight planning room, but this quarter it will be hosted at Garmin.

We’ll also have a special guest speaker. At last quarter’s meeting, members asked how they can learn more about using our Garmin avionics when flying VFR. Valley Flyers member Joshua McKinney volunteered to do a presentation on tips and tricks for using the various Garmin equipment in our airplanes during VFR flying. Joshua is a CFI and is also a Flight Test Engineer who works in Garmin’s Flight Test department. Joshua’s flying and teaching experience combined with his intimate knowledge of the Garmin equipment will help our members learn new ways to use our avionics to make our VFR flying easier, safer, and more enjoyable. There will also be time to ask questions.

In October, we’re planning another night currency event for members who want a refresher on night flying. As the days get shorter, more flights may end around twilight or later. This is a great opportunity for members to fly with an instructor and brush up on night flying techniques. More details to come, and any club instructor can help if you have questions about night flying.
