It’s almost time for our annual club meeting to cover general business and officer elections. Over dinner, we’ll have a chance to meet the many new members that joined this year, provide an overall update on the club and our financials, discuss what we’ve accomplished over the last year, hold officer elections, discuss plans for the future, and discuss other business that you wish to bring up.
The President, Treasurer, and Safety & Maintenance positions expire in January, so elections will be held for these positions. If you have interest in serving on the Board, please contact any of the board members for more information on these positions: Isaac Mosgrove (President), Simon Hayes (Vice-President), Joan Johnson (Treasurer), Alan Lasneski (Secretary), Al Gray (Safety & Maintenance), Chris Eriksson (Chief Pilot).
If you know of special topics, proposals, or concerns that you’d like to discuss, please contact Isaac so that we can be sure that they are on the agenda. We look forward to recapping the accomplishments of this past year and to look ahead to further improvements for the future. This year’s meeting will be at 6:00 pm, Wednesday, January 24th at La Margarita Express, 515 Chemeketa St NE (members pay for their own orders). -

Quarterly club meetings are held with the Board in order to provide members more opportunities to ask questions, make suggestions, raise concerns, and have increased visibility into the status and workings of the club. This is your club, so the Board wants to make sure you are aware of what is happening throughout the year. The quarterly meetings will be held on the 2nd Tuesday of the 2nd month each quarter at 7:00 PM in the flight planning room.

Club flyout to Yakima Air Terminal/McAllister Field (KYKM). We’re hoping that Cubcrafters will be able to give us a tour of their factory; they don’t usually do that on the weekends and we’re waiting to hear if they can accommodate us. We’ll let you know as soon as we can.

We are excited to have dinner with the Salem Tower again this year. One of the Salem ATC controllers will be joining us on April 17th for dinner at 6:00 pm at La Margarita Express (515 Chemeketa St. NE).
This is a great opportunity to continue to strengthen our relationship with the tower, to learn how we can work better with the tower, and to make sure we are doing what they want to make the airspace a friendly and safe place. The tower is looking forward to meeting the many people that they talk with on the radio! This is highly recommended for everyone. Please plan to RSVP to Isaac so he can estimate the seats needed. -

We have planned our annual Strawberry Shortcake and BBQ event for Saturday, June 22nd, weather permitting! Please bring your choice of meat for your family and a salad or main dish to share in the potluck. The club will provide beverages and strawberry shortcake for everyone.
We'll start the event at 12pm, with the grilling starting at 1pm. Bring your family and friends to enjoy an afternoon at the hangars! We’ll also invite the Tower so we can get a chance to visit with some of our controllers.
This event is BYOC (Bring Your Own Chair). It would be helpful – but isn't required – to RSVP to Isaac Mosgrove so that we can plan enough beverages and strawberry shortcake.
Keep an eye on your emails in case the schedule changes (we need the fresh strawberries to be ready and nice weather)!

As the days get shorter and the clocks change, more flying will be at night. We’re planning a night currency event on October 19th for members who want to regain their night passenger currency, or simply get some more night flying experience with a club CFI. We’ll share more details about the format and times in advance.
